On Monday July 18th the Sartell-St.Stephen school board will be having a strategic planning mini-retreat. At this session they will be discussing the mission statement for the district.
The existing mission statement is posted below and contains the word excellence. This word has come under fire recently as nationally recognized, and self described, Critical Race Theory (CRT) advocates within education are challenging meritocracy and individuality as a form of oppression.
With declining satisfaction in the quality of education provided within the Sartell-St. Stephen school district will this board now boldly remove excellence from the mission statement altogether in agreement with the national CRT advocates? Should we instead be advocating for the excellence of ALL Sartell students and striving to improve outcomes? Time will tell what choice they make!
